Dr. Monica Speaks on Food & Health

June 2022

Our very own Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Monica Aggarwal, MD FACC was a featured speaker at CulinaryMedicine.org’s annual conference in Orlando recently.

The conference was focused on using Culinary Medicine as a practice transformation tool, encouraging participants to restructure clinical practice and healthcare food service to focus on food and health. Specifically, Dr. Aggarwal spoke about how eating more plants is important to good health and how implementing a healthy whole food diet of mostly plants is the optimal diet.

She also shared about her experience in working with major hospital systems to implement healthy food programs and the challenges they face. We are proud to have Dr. Aggarwal on our team!

What’s New on the Farm Campus?

We continue work on the connection to John Young Parkway at our entrance and preparing the internal roads on the campus along with the greenhouse building pad.

It’s Blueberry Season!

4Roots was proud to participate in Wild Goose Farms 10th Annual Gleaning Festival on May 14th. The fun-filled day allowed attendees to pick blueberries and eat BBQ while enjoying live entertainment. 4Roots shared information on our mission and the Farm Campus with attendees and had special edition jars of Blueberry BBQ sauce available for a small donation.

Proceeds from the event benefited 4Roots and other organizations dear to Wild Goose Farms, a diversified family farming company established in the mid-1990s by Chuck and Vesna Allison.

Feed the Need Serving the Community

In partnership with the City of Orlando and 4Roots, West Lakes Partnership assisted over 475 individuals in need during COVID. We are proud the program is expected to continue through 2022.

Feed the Need is providing 220 fresh produce bags and The Farmacy is providing 200 meat/eggs boxes for the families of West Lakes. In addition to delivering hot meals, produce boxes, and masks, West Lakes Partnership believes in moving Orlando families and seniors toward food self-sufficiency over the long term. We are proud to work with our community partners to build a better food future!
