FARM CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

January 2023

The new year is off to an exciting start on the 4Roots Farm Campus! The classroom building has gone vertical! The exterior structure is well underway, and by the first week of February, we expect to install the roof and begin the interior work. We are still on track to welcome our first students to campus this fall!

In addition to the classroom, the construction of the greenhouse is also underway. The footings have been poured and by mid-February vertical construction should begin.

As the first phase of the Farm Campus begins to take shape, we are grateful for all of the community support we have received. We continue to plan Phase II and look forward to sharing the progress with you!

MONARCH LEARNING ACADEMY STUDENTS VISIT 4ROOTS

Middle School students from Monarch Learning Academy volunteered at 4Roots recently. The students recently packed 200 bags of produce to be distributed at the One Heart for Women and Children food distribution event. The students were divided into two groups of five, and each group was tasked with completing 100 bags full of kale, potatoes, apples, and onions. They also toured the warehouse, garden beds, and container garden. Thank you, Monarch Learning Academy, for your hard work to help others in our community and for taking the time to learn about 4Roots!

“The students experienced a hands-on activity involving weights and measurement, unit conversion, multiplication, and rates. They also practiced teamwork and friendly competition – all while serving others in the community. It was such a valuable way to spend their morning!”

Melissa Jordan, Monarch Learning Academy Middle School Math Teacher

LUNCH & LEARN WITH KPMGERS’ MARKET

John Rivers and the 4Roots team provided a “Lunch and Learn” opportunity for 75 KPMG team members in January. John shared information about 4Roots’ programs and the Farm Campus project at KPMG’s Lakehouse headquarters in Lake Nona.

The Lakehouse is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art, learning, and innovation center for KPMG’s employees. Their campus participates in 4Roots’ Reverse Demand purchasing program benefiting local farmers, and its foundation supports 4Roots’ work in the community.

4Roots is grateful for the opportunity to strengthen our continued partnership with KPMG!
