On May 11, Walmart provided 4Roots with pollinator plants for our garden at the 4Roots Co-Op and presented 4Roots with $20,000 to support our Feed The Need program.
It is estimated that every three bites of food we eat is possible because of pollinators like bees and butterflies. But sadly, over the past 30 years pollinator populations have been declining due to loss of habitat, pests, pollution, pesticides, and a changing climate. Walmart is committed to protecting pollinators and our food supply to build a greener and more sustainable future.

Feed The Need Program Update
Managed by The Big Potato Foundation, Apopka Billie Dean Community Garden is located on the corner of Park Avenue and 9th Street in Apopka. The community garden was established in honor of Mr. Billie Dean, Agriculture teacher at Apopka High School, Apopka City Commissioner and Vice Mayor of Apopka. For a nominal fee, residents can grow and harvest their own vegetables and access gardening tips from experts. As a part of our Feed The Need Program, 4Roots is providing 20 yards of soil from Southeast Soils for the current garden beds, 4Roots is also supporting this community garden’s operations and our shared vision of creating a healthy, sustainable regional food system.
