Coming To The Farm Campus 2022

October 2021

Phase One of the 4Roots Farm Campus is scheduled for completion in 2022 and here is a breakdown of what to expect!

This phase will include a range of sustainable growing systems including hydroponics, aquaponics, soil-based regenerative agriculture, permaculture, and more – anchored by an education center. In phase one, the following items will be built:

  • Farm Campus Entry
  • Education Building
  • Community Green
  • Greenhouse
  • Shipping Container Farm
  • Box Gardens
  • Field Gardens
  • Barn
  • Apiary

Future phases will include an event center, a farm-to-table restaurant, an interactive discovery center and a culinary health institute.

The Farm Campus will serve as a community asset that invites guests to engage in hands-on experiences that inspire them to think more deeply about how food affects the health of our people and our planet.

Fall Gleaning With Feed The Need

This October, Feed The Need partnered with the Society of St. AndrewsCity of Orlando and Good Food Central Florida to glean at Long & Scott Farms. Collectively, the organizations harvested approximately 5000 pounds of cucumbers that were distributed to the following organizations:

  • Salvation Army
  • Lily Storm Foundation
  • The Experience Christian Center
  • Josie’s House of Help
  • Hope Center/Hope Partnership – Kissimmee
  • One Heart for Women and Children

Thank you to our community partners for making this event possible. We look forward to more gleaning events in the future!
