Introducing 4Roots Farm Chats: A New Monthly Series Growing Curiosity, Community, and Discovery

There’s something special about gathering at the farm—ideas feel closer to the surface, conversations flow a little easier, and the connection between people, food, and the land becomes unmistakably clear. With that spirit in mind, we are excited to launch 4Roots Farm Chats, a new monthly speaker series at the 4Roots Farm Campus that invites our community to explore the future of food, farming, health, and sustainability together.

Held on select Mondays from 5–6:30 p.m., Farm Chats will feature thought-provoking conversations led by experts, innovators, researchers, and practitioners who are shaping the way we understand soil, health, agriculture, and our environment. Rather than lectures, these sessions are designed to feel like meaningful community conversations—curious, approachable, and rooted in real-world insight. As we begin this series, we’re thrilled to share the first three sessions that will kick things off:

On Monday, November 17, Dr. Josh Taylor will open the series with How Plant and Soil Science Point to a Divine Designer, an exploration of the remarkable design woven into the natural world. Dr. Taylor brings a unique lens, blending scientific understanding with a deeper sense of meaning and purpose. His session invites guests to consider the relationships between soil, plant biology, resilience, and the intentional patterns found across nature.

On Monday, December 15, Mike Garcia will lead An Introduction to Agroforestry, drawing from his hands-on work at Everoak. His presentation explores how integrating trees, shrubs, and perennials into farming systems can regenerate soil, support biodiversity, and strengthen long-term farm viability. Mike will share lessons learned, challenges, and practical strategies from their market garden, and we hope to include an interactive walk in or around the garden for guests to see agroforestry concepts in action.

On Monday, January 12, Haley Hine will guide an immersive session titled A Sustainable Approach to Flowers. This conversation looks at where most cut flowers come from, the environmental and human costs of imports, and how regenerative floral growing can restore local ecosystems and reduce waste. Guests will explore natural pest management, Florida-friendly blooms, and simple ways to grow flowers at home. A short walk through our flower field will follow, and everyone will head home with a packet of seeds to start their own pollinator-friendly garden.

Admission for Farm Chats is just $10, with limited seating to keep each gathering meaningful and interactive. Farm Family Members attend for free, enjoying this as one of their many benefits while helping support programs that expand community access to fresh, nutritious food. Membership is an impactful way to stay connected while fueling the mission that makes these conversations possible.

By joining us for Farm Chats, guests are not only participating in energizing and informative experiences—they are supporting the broader mission of 4Roots. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to unearthing the power of food to build healthy communities, every ticket purchase helps sustain the education, access, and empowerment programs that nourish families and strengthen our local food system. Through conversation and curiosity, we can change how our community thinks about, accesses, and interacts with food.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the farm for this new series and grow something meaningful together. Learn more and register at 4rootsfarm.org/events.
