We’re excited to announce a major step forward in making healthy, fresh food more accessible to our community. Fresh by 4Roots, the virtual farmers market operated by 4Roots, now accepts SNAP EBT payments online, offers customers access to the Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) program, and provides free grocery delivery for SNAP recipients in Orange County.
Thanks to a grant from the Elinor and T. W. Miller, Jr. Foundation, 4Roots is expanding access to affordable, locally grown produce for families across Central Florida.
For SNAP customers, the benefits are immediate and meaningful: you can use your SNAP EBT card directly on Freshby4Roots.com, receive a dollar-for-dollar match on Florida-grown fruits and vegetables through the Fresh Access Bucks program, and enjoy free home delivery on every order in Orange County.
“This program is a game-changer for families who want to put fresh, healthy food on their tables,” said Carmen Gibson, Associate Director of Community Engagement at 4Roots. “Not only are we making it easier for SNAP recipients to shop online, but every purchase supports our network of 57 Florida farmers who supply our market. It’s good for families, and it’s good for local agriculture.”
Unlike many national retailers, nearly all Fresh by 4Roots products come directly from Florida farms — meaning they travel fewer miles, retain more nutrients and flavor, and strengthen our local agricultural economy. As one of the few online markets where SNAP shoppers can maximize their benefits, Fresh by 4Roots helps families stretch their food dollars while supporting Florida growers.
This initiative addresses a critical need in Orange County, where one in five public school students experiences food insecurity. By removing barriers like transportation and providing free delivery, Fresh by 4Roots is making sure families in USDA-defined food deserts and underserved neighborhoods can put fresh, nutritious food on the table.
