At 4Roots, we believe that making fresh, nutritious food more accessible and supporting the farmers who grow it are essential parts of building a stronger food system.
Fresh Access Bucks (FAB), a program of Feeding Florida, Florida’s statewide network of food banks, has helped advance that work by making fresh, Florida-grown fruits and vegetables more affordable for people using SNAP/EBT.
As of August 17, 2026, Feeding Florida has temporarily paused Fresh Access Bucks at all participating locations across Florida due to a gap in program funding.
What Does This Mean?
Fresh Access Bucks provides a dollar-for-dollar incentive for SNAP/EBT purchases, helping participants increase their purchasing power for fresh fruits and vegetables.
The final day to earn new FAB incentives was July 31, 2026, and previously issued FAB tokens and incentives could be used through August 16, 2026.
It is important to note that SNAP/EBT benefits are not affected by this pause. SNAP participants can continue using their regular benefits at participating retailers and markets that accept SNAP.
The pause applies only to the additional Fresh Access Bucks incentive.
Why Fresh Access Bucks Matters
Fresh Access Bucks is about more than stretching a grocery budget.
It connects families with fresh, nutritious food while creating greater demand for produce grown by Florida farmers. Every additional dollar spent on Florida-grown food has the potential to reach beyond an individual purchase, supporting growers, local markets, and communities across the state.
Since 2013, Feeding Florida reports that Fresh Access Bucks has generated an estimated $57.2 million in economic impact across Florida, including more than $7.2 million in FAB incentives spent on fresh produce alongside $26.4 million in SNAP spending on healthy foods.
It is an example of what can happen when food access, health, agriculture, and local economies are addressed together.
That approach closely reflects what we believe at 4Roots.
Access to healthy food is essential, but our vision extends beyond access alone. We want to help create a food system where families can afford and enjoy fresh food, where people feel confident choosing and preparing it, and where Florida farmers have strong and sustainable markets for what they grow.
What Happens Next?
Feeding Florida has shared that the pause is temporary and that updates will be provided as additional funding becomes available. At this time, a date for the return of Fresh Access Bucks has not been announced.
