Homeschool Day at 4Roots Farm (Ages 8-11)

September 9 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

The 4Roots Homeschool Days program brings learning to life through hands-on experiences in the garden and beyond. Through seasonal, interactive activities, students explore agriculture and the environment in a way that encourages curiosity, creativity, and real-world connection.

Designed for a range of ages, our program blends playful discovery with meaningful learning as students dive deeper into agriculture and related sciences. Each experience is designed to build practical skills while fostering a greater understanding of sustainability, engineering, and the natural world.

🌿 September’s Theme: The Land Before Time
Students explore the prehistoric precursors of the plants we know today and discover the amazing adaptations that help them survive and thrive. From simple algae to ancient olive trees, learners will trace the story of plant evolution across ecosystems, both native and introduced, beneficial and invasive. The farm will be our classroom as we dissect, inspect, and learn to respect the diversity of the plant world all around them.

Session activities:
🌱Explore the history of plants
📔Create a timeline of plant evolution using examples around the farm
🔎 Investigate plant adaptations over time
🌺 Dissect plant specimens and examine their anatomy
