Homeschool Day at 4Roots Farm (Ages 5-7)

October 14 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

The 4Roots Homeschool Days program brings learning to life through hands-on experiences in the garden and beyond. Through seasonal, interactive activities, students explore agriculture and the environment in a way that encourages curiosity, creativity, and real-world connection.

Designed for a range of ages, our program blends playful discovery with meaningful learning as students dive deeper into agriculture and related sciences. Each experience is designed to build practical skills while fostering a greater understanding of sustainability, engineering, and the natural world.

October’s Theme: Prehistoric Plants and Peoples
Get ready to travel back in time to learn about the ancient flora and fauna that lived alongside the dinosaurs! Take an up close look at living fossils growing on the farm and investigate how early pollinators and plant relationships have evolved over millions of years. Bringing history forward in time, learners will also step into the ingenuity of early Florida peoples, including the Calusa, as they explore how natural materials were used to create tools for daily life and gardening.

Session activities:
🦕 Explore plants that lived during time of dinosaurs
📔Create a timeline of plant evolution using examples around the farm
🔎 Investigate plant adaptations over time
🌺 Dissect plant specimens and examine their anatomy
