An Intro to Agroforestry
Join us at 4Roots Farm for an engaging conversation with Mike Garcia, owner and operator of Everoak Farm in Orlando.
As a self-taught, first-generation farmer, Mike has built his farm around the principles of sustainable agriculture and regenerative farming, drawing on his background in the culinary arts and a deep respect for nature’s design.
In this session, Mike will introduce the fundamentals of agroforestry: a land management approach that integrates trees, crops, and livestock to create more resilient and productive ecosystems.
Topics will include:
- What agroforestry is and how it works
- How Everoak Farm applies agroforestry principles
- Techniques such as alley cropping, forest farming, and silvopasture
- The agroforestry framework and effective management strategies
- The benefits of agroforestry for soil health, biodiversity, and food production
- How to get started creating your own market garden with agroforestry in mind
Whether you’re a grower, gardener, or simply curious about sustainable food systems, this Farm Chat offers an inspiring look at how farming in harmony with nature can lead to healthier soil, stronger ecosystems, and a more regenerative future.
