A Sustainable Approach to Flowers
Join us for an interactive conversation on sustainable approaches to floral design and flower sourcing.
Led by Haley Hine, Lead Florist for Flowers by 4Roots, this Farm Chat follows Haley’s personal journey through the floral industry and the inspiration behind our Flowers by 4Roots program: reimagining the floral industry through sustainability, education, and community impact.
Haley will share her firsthand experiences working within the floral industry and what led her to embrace more sustainable practices. We’ll begin by mapping where most commercial flowers come from and tracing their path through the global supply chain, uncovering the hidden environmental costs of imported blooms.
Then, we’ll explore more sustainable ways to grow and source flowers: sourcing and growing locally using natural pest management, avoiding toxic inputs, and supporting pollinators and biodiversity. Haley will also share insights on what thrives in Central Florida’s climate, common challenges, and practical tips for starting your own sustainable flower garden.
To close the evening, we’ll take a guided walk to the flower field to see seasonal crops and companion planting in action. Each guest will also take home a packet of flower seeds to start their own pollinator-friendly garden. 🌼
