What an incredible Saturday at the 4Roots Warehouse! Together with the IIDA Florida Central Chapter, local design and architecture firms, and hundreds of Orlando community members, we turned what could have been landfill waste into a treasure trove of creative potential.
The second annual Zero Landfill Orlando event was a huge success — keeping surplus design materials out of landfills and giving them a new life through reuse, repurposing, and upcycling. Artists, educators, crafters, DIY enthusiasts, and nonprofits came ready to dig in and left with wagons, totes, and cars full of paint samples, tile, fabric, flooring, hardware, wallcoverings, magazines, and so much more.
We are deeply grateful to our partners at IIDA Florida Central Chapter for spearheading this effort, to the local firms who donated materials, and to everyone who came out to shop, gather, and imagine new possibilities for these rescued resources. Your participation helps advance waste diversion, circularity, and sustainability — and fuels a more creative, connected Orlando.
Of course, no Saturday at 4Roots is complete without stopping by the 4Roots Farmers Market just around the corner. Many of you made a morning of it, grabbing fresh produce, meeting neighbors, and enjoying the community vibe — the perfect complement to a day of upcycling and inspiration.
We can’t wait to see what you create with your finds! Share your upcycled projects on social media and tag @4RootsFarm and @iidafloridacentral so we can celebrate your creativity.
If you missed this year’s event, stay tuned — we’ll be back next year with even more materials ready to be rescued. Together, we can keep good resources out of landfills and put them back into the hands of makers, dreamers, and doers.
